![]() ![]() My total commute is 10 minutes (2.5 miles) from my door to Diridon by bike, then the Caltrain ride, then 5 minutes by bike. I try and tell my coworkers about this whenever our commutes get brought up and they (especially recently) talk about how bad traffic has gotten again. It’d also be so much better for the environment. If everyone at these companies took advantage of this they would not only save money but clear the roads for all the people who don’t have this same convenience. I can get to Palo Alto from San Jose in less than half an hour using my bike and CalTrain and the company pays for my CalTrain fairs (pretty much all the well paying companies do these commuter benefits, ours is like $200/mo for public transit). "Not once in 2022 has the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge recorded 50,000 westbound crossings," Goodwin said. On the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, westbound weekday crossings routinely hit 60,000 vehicles prior to the pandemic, but they have reached 50,000 vehicles only a handful of times since. The median traffic volume on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge during a five-day work week dropped as low as 24,764 vehicles a day early in the pandemic, a nearly 59% decrease from the routine 60,000 vehicles per day. The MTC data tracks traffic volumes coming through the toll side of Bay Area bridges. ![]() Traffic into Silicon Valley has not bounced all the way back, traffic data is showing, spokesperson John Goodwin said. Traffic is "less worse" than pre-pandemic but that doesn't mean empty roads: Video Toll Rates are 1. "Based on preliminary findings, from January 2021 to January 2022, California shrank by 173,173 people or -0.44 percent." Learn more about E-ZPass Maryland Hatem Bridge discount plans at.
